Big families are one of my favorite subjects to photograph, the easy going nature of groups this large and general playfulness seep out out into their photos and its is a fun challenge to try and get an even number of images of each child in a big group like this. This sweet family just welcomed baby number 7 and we did a fun family session in their front yard in the peak of the Pacific Northwest colors. Here are some of my favorites!

Our friends just had their third baby yesterday, a sweet little boy named Joaquin! He was born via c-section and I couldn’t be in with them for surgery, but I came later when his big sister and brother got to meet him for the first time, which was beyond sweet. Little Joaquin weighed 6 lb 8 oz and was 19 in long, such a little teeny tiny! I’m in love already!

A couple of days ago, before Joaquin was born, his mama came to sit in my backyard in a spot I’d been eyeing for pictures and let me document her baby bump too. The night before that we were at a friends and I took some picture of the other two kids, so these are all going in one post. 🙂

Congrats Carla, Johnny, Luci and Che!

Well hello there! I am so behind blogging because of all the wonderful sessions I have been out shooting and editing. It’s the busy season for is portrait photographers and in Bellingham we are dodging the rain and trying to make the most of the color fall leaves dropping everywhere. Last week I got to do one of my favorite types of sessions for this time of year- a large family group. Call me crazy, but I LOVE shooting extended family grandparents. I think its often times the only way people get pictures of their parents after they become grandparents and its so economical for a 2-3 immediate families to share a big family session.

This family really turned up the challenge level by including a dog, a set of newborn twins and two camera shy kids in the mix! Here’s some of my favorite from our session, enjoy!
