Baby Banjo: Bellingham Birth Photographer

This sweet baby boy came into the world via cesarean last week and I got to document his mama going into and then everyone coming out of surgery as well as his first couple of hours of life, nursing, meeting his big sister and other loved ones. It was a lovely day for a beautiful baby boy to be born. And the baby’s name is not actually Banjo, as the title might have led on, but what the Dr. was calling him before his mom and dad settled on a name for him. 🙂

Summer is for Babies: Bellingham Birth Photographer

Wow, so many births lately! This one was was born at home on Saturday, releiving me of my previous obligation of doing a triathlon in the middle of the day on what of the hottest days of the year so far. 🙂 This was also another birth in the books for me where I shot with one hand and held mom’s leg back with the other, which always makes me feel a little like I’m wearing a cape for the day. 🙂  Here are some of my favorites from his journey into his mom and dad’s arms.

Born Bright Eyed: Bellingham Birth Photographer

Last week I got a text that Rebekah was unexpectedly pushing right then ,and it was one of those times I was ever so thankful to live  just a few block from the Birthroot Midwives and Birth Center! I got to the birth center in less than 5 minutes from the text and got to photograph her baby making is entrance into the world! When his head came out you could see a hand up by his face and his cord wrapped around both. I watched as Ann, one of the midwives carefully and quickly loosened and removed the cord. It was so neat to watch both midwives and doulas work with such calm and wisdom! Welcome to the world Finley Daniel!

Thanks for allowing me the honor of watching you become parents Rebekah and Isaac!

Joaquin Part 2: Bellingham Newborn Photographer

Yesterday I got to spend a couple hours over at baby Joaquin’s house with his family. This baby is too much sweetness! I could have held him all day.

I love any opportunity to photograph newborns in their homes, with their families in natural settings. It’s more of a lifestyle approach to newborn photography that I really dig (even though I still love posing sleeping babies too, its fun that my families enjoy different styles and I get to do them all!). Here are a few of my favorites.

If you would like to bring the family some meals you can sign up for that here.

Welcome to the World Joaquin: Bellingham Pregnancy and Birth Photographer

Our friends just had their third baby yesterday, a sweet little boy named Joaquin! He was born via c-section and I couldn’t be in with them for surgery, but I came later when his big sister and brother got to meet him for the first time, which was beyond sweet. Little Joaquin weighed 6 lb 8 oz and was 19 in long, such a little teeny tiny! I’m in love already!

A couple of days ago, before Joaquin was born, his mama came to sit in my backyard in a spot I’d been eyeing for pictures and let me document her baby bump too. The night before that we were at a friends and I took some picture of the other two kids, so these are all going in one post. 🙂

Congrats Carla, Johnny, Luci and Che!
